Reaching 10,000 subscribers gave Roberts London a reason to look back. This short film, first published on 27 January 2018, brings together moments from the channel’s first five years. It is a thank-you to everyone who watched, subscribed and followed the journey around London.
The retrospective starts with footage from 2013, identified on screen as my first Roberts London YouTube video. From there, it moves through familiar streets, food stops, celebrations and London after dark. In less than four minutes, those fragments become a small record of the channel’s beginnings.

The opening takes us beside the Thames at night. The London Eye glows blue behind me, while nearby stalls and lights provide the setting for the early footage. The camera moves between a piece to camera and the scene around it. Already, London is both the subject and the backdrop.
Looking back at those images is part of the pleasure of keeping a video archive. They preserve a particular evening as well as an early stage in making the channel. The on-screen date gives that opening sequence its place in the story: 2013.
Five years of London memories
Next, the film gathers a wider mix of memories. A daytime street scene sits alongside a celebration around a table. Poppies Fish & Chips also appears in the montage. These are brief glimpses, brought together as a personal look back across the years.
As the film continues, thank-you cards punctuate the images. Watching, inspiration and subscribing each receive a moment of recognition. That simple message holds the different clips together: the people following the films are part of the channel’s story too.
