Boom Burger on Portobello Road was my lunch stop during a day exploring Notting Hill. The little restaurant served Jamaican-inspired burgers, and the plate that arrived was certainly worth pointing the camera at: a tall burger beside a generous heap of crisp plantain.

Stopping at Boom Burger on Portobello Road
The red, yellow and green sign made the shop easy to spot among the market activity. Inside, the same colours ran around a compact counter, with wooden stools pulled up beneath it. Outside, clothes and other goods filled the neighbouring stalls.
This was the Portobello Road Boom Burger, which I distinguished in the original video description from the similarly named place on Leather Lane. The short film concentrates on the meal, while the surrounding market supplies a lively backdrop.
A burger with a crisp plantain side
The food arrived on a round tray. Under the glossy bun, the close-up shows melted cheese over the patty, with a thick slice of tomato and lettuce underneath. Beside it was a substantial pile of golden plantain strips. I gave the camera a good look before getting started.
The plantain brought something different to a burger lunch. I tried it on camera before working my way through the burger, sitting close enough to the stalls for the market to remain part of the scene. This was a casual stop in the middle of a walk, with shoppers passing nearby.
During the tasting, I picked out the fresh salad and cheese. By the time I had finished, my verdict was straightforward: the meal was delicious, and I recommended a visit. The original video title asked whether it was the best in London; the film itself is a personal lunch review, rather than a comparison of every burger in the city.
Back through Portobello Green market
After lunch, I was back among the stalls around Portobello Green. The market continued farther along, but I decided to turn around and head back towards Notting Hill Gate. Even that return walk meant working through a busy crowd.
By then, I was thinking about a beer. The film ends with that walk back through the market, leaving the burger stop as one small part of a much longer day on Portobello Road.
